Tarn and his DJD would remain the most recurring antagonists in IDW's original Transformers comic continuity, with the villain dedicating himself further to his "noble cause" in the wake of Megatron defecting from the Decepticon allegiance.The battle is evolving with the Transformers Legacy Evolution Comic Universe Tarn action figure! Tarn is fiercely loyal to the Decepticon cause, taking his allegiance so far as to affix the Decepticon insignia to his own face. Many of their alternate modes had been altered or modified to act as torture devices, with Tarn's vehicle mode being a monstrous tank. He would later become the leader of the Decepticon Justice Division (DJD), and he embodied their shared focus on torture and assault. This included tricking prisoners into killing themselves in order to anger Skids and make him question his own beliefs. He would become increasingly cruel, torturing others due to the way that society had once mistreated him. With his appearance upgraded and wearing the Decepticon symbol as his new face, the Transformer who once saw himself as a glitch in the system proudly stood tall as Tarn. It's not shown how or why Damus made the switch to the Decepticon cause, but upon doing so, he changed everything about himself. Glitch was introduced to the writings of future Decepticon leader Megatron, with the revolutionary nature of his words striking a cord within him.
Despite this, he did come to make a group of friends, including Orion Pax, the Transformer who would become Optimus Prime. Calling himself "Glitch," he saw as little value in himself as the rest of Cybertrons did. Now marked as someone to avoid, Damus saw his special ability as a curse. Eventually, the planet's senate would see him as a threat, forcing him to undergo "empurata." This procedure removed his hands and his normal head, replacing them with claws and a one-eyed dome instead. It allowed him to control non-sentient machinery and technology, including the tools and weapons of other Cybertronians. He actually began his life on Cybertron under the name Damus and was born with a special power. Tarn made his debut in IDW's Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye #5 (by James Roberts and Alex Milne), though his saddening backstory wouldn't be revealed until much later.
